Tropical Detox Smoothie Bowl Recipe

Many of the foods I cook with have added health benefits. The benefit to you is enhanced recovery, boosted immunity and extra energy. Bananas are rich in fiber, antioxidants, and many other nutrients such as potassium. Bananas are also great for moderating blood sugar levels, improving digestive health, and providing excellent fuel for exercise. Pineapple is great for digestive health and reducing inflammation — it is particularly good for recovery from surgery and exercise. Spinach is a highly nutritious food. It improves eye health, helps prevent heart disease and cancer, and is rich in immune-boosting properties. Lastly, spirulina is extremely high in many nutrients. It detoxes the body, it has anti-cancer properties, and it may be able to prevent diabetes. Spirulina has been shown to reduce cholesterol and improve the symptoms of inflammation in the sinuses as well.
- 1/2 large peeled banana
- 1/2 cup chopped pineapple
- 1 cup almond (or dairy-free milk)
- 1 handful of spinach (washed)
- 1 tbsp spirulina (optional)
- 1 serving of plant-based protein (like hemp or pea)
- 1 date, pitted
- Place all ingredients in a smoothie blender and process until smooth.
